Spotify free disadvantages

The main differences between the two modes are explained in a very basic way by Spotify itself in the Premium section where you can access information about the service. The main one is just what you are thinking, being able to say goodbye to advertising so you do not suddenly jump the ad of a group you hate in the middle of your favorite playlist. But there is much more to it than that.

And of course, if you have good speakers or headphones at home, you don’t want to settle for basic sound quality either. Premium mode unlocks 320 kbps quality on both desktop and mobile clients.

While I’m a Spotify user myself, I don’t want you to stop looking at what the competition has to offer either. In fact, here’s a comparison of what each of the different music streaming services offers. But if you are hesitating between Spotify Free and Premium, I think that today the paid mode is absolutely worth it, as you get your money’s worth.

Is Spotify premium 2020 worth it?

So far, we’ve talked a lot about the importance of increasing user engagement on Spotify and growing your audience on the platform as well as on social media. But when all is said and done, the big question remains the same: how can I turn my efforts into money?

In some countries, platforms such as Spotify have to allocate a portion of their revenue directly to management companies such as SACEM in France or GEMA in Germany. The artist then receives the rest of the revenue directly from his distributor, minus service costs and stipulated commissions, if applicable.

But what about the money collected by the collecting societies? Along with other income from, for example, radio and television broadcasts, this ends up in the account of the relevant society until the artist claims his share. In the same way, the management costs set by the collecting societies are deducted here.

Free Spotify users are limited to 96 Kbps streams. That’s well below CD quality. If you pay for a premium subscription, you can take it up to 360 Kbps. Even if you don’t have particularly nice headphones, the difference is still night and day. It’s worth it to have access to this higher quality audio. Even non-audiophiles can easily hear the difference.

Most people probably don’t think of $9.99 as a great deal of money, but just because something is cheap doesn’t mean you should waste your cash. We think the price is absolutely justified, especially coming from a time when you could barely buy a single album a month for $10.

While the value of the Premium plan for a single user may be debatable, it’s important to remember that Spotify offers much cheaper per-user pricing for family groups. The family plan costs $14.99 at the time of this writing and covers six family members. That’s about $2.50 per user if you use all six slots.

For its part, Apple’s service has more than 75 million songs, which is more than Spotify’s current number, and also beats newer competitors such as Amazon Prime Music and Jay-Z’s Tidal. Likewise, Apple has worked to secure more exclusives than the competition, largely because it doesn’t have a free service.

Do you listen to Black Keys often? Then your weekly playlist might include The Arcs, a side project from the band’s guitarist Dan Auerbach. In addition, Spotify gives you the opportunity to create, share and follow playlists of any kind, including those shared by friends, with a simple click, plus expertly selected playlists for any mood or genre.

The truth is that Spotify’s playlists, especially Discover Weekly, give this service a certain edge. Until Apple Music can compete with this algorithm-driven approach, we concede victory to Spotify.
