When paying someone for the first time or making changes to the payee information on an existing payment instruction, you must enter the full name of the account and also indicate whether it is a business or personal account. You will need to do this for local payments using Faster Payments or the Clearing House Automated Payments System (CHAPS) in the UK (including standing orders).
You will then receive a response indicating how well the information you entered matches the account details, as well as advice on the next step to take (e.g. confirming the details with the payee).
