Getting married in Germany as a Spaniard

Since May 1, 2005, I have been backpacking the world to document the hospitality and daily life of the most unusual destinations through my chronicles. I write travel books to contribute to the nomadic revolution.

This post tries to answer some of the most frequently asked questions I receive. How many days can I travel in Europe? Can I stay more than 90 days in Europe? Which countries are in the Schengen zone? Can I leave and re-enter? We are going to approach each topic in parts to try to elucidate these rules, sometimes changing, whose ignorance can limit our trip or, directly, make us deported or penalize our passport.

Thus, when you enter a Schengen country, you will be able to travel through all the other member countries without passport control. And if you are a citizen of a country that requires a Schengen visa, you do not need to apply for a separate visa for each member country you are going to visit.

Let’s start by analyzing the entry requirements. Apart from the fact that Argentines do not need a visa to enter Europe, this entry is always subject to the criteria of the immigration officer on duty, who may request it, regardless of nationality (unless you have a European passport).

The tension culminated in the summer of 1974. First, in July, a treacherous and pathetic coup d’état took place, led from Athens by the colonels of the Greek dictatorship, which aimed at removing President Makarios and replacing him with an authority in favor of annexing the island to Greece (a concept that had already existed since the beginning of the last century, the “enosis”, which in Greek means unity, was used). A poorly organized coup whose negative consequences are still visible today, for in response to the failed coup d’état (Makarios managed to escape), the Turkish Armed Forces – a total of 40,000 soldiers, plus naval and air support – landed to occupy the northern part of the island. The occupation lasted from the early morning of the twentieth to the twenty-second of July 1974, and had a second phase between the fourteenth and sixteenth of August. Turkey justified itself at the time by speaking of a “peacekeeping operation” aimed at “re-establishing constitutional order” and “protecting the rights of the Turkish Cypriots”.

Requirements for Venezuelan nationals to marry in Germany

Before contacting the consulate, please consult this section. If the consular section receives a question that is not answered in this list, it will not answer your mail. Thank you for your understanding.

If your studies exceed 90 days, you must apply for a national visa by presenting the required documentation for this case. If it is a short-term course that does not exceed 90 days, you can travel without a visa.

For travel related to employment contracts or paid internships, the requirement to obtain a visa remains in force, even if the paid work you will be doing is for a period of less than 90 days.

You need a letter of invitation from friends or relatives who are guarantors of accommodation during your stay. The characteristics of the form or document as well as the procedure to obtain it vary for each country. In the case of Germany, an informal letter signed by your relatives or friends is sufficient. The letter must indicate the address, the degree of relationship and the duration of stay. You can present the printed letter at the immigration control. It does not have to be an original, nor does it require authentication of the signature or apostille.

Obtaining a Schengen visa gives you the advantage of being able to travel to any of the 26 countries of the Schengen area for a maximum of three months in a six-month period.  The Schengen area comprises 26 European countries that have decided to eliminate all internal border controls, which means that with this document it is not necessary to acquire a particular visa for each country.  Below, we show you the steps to obtain the Schengen visa, among which is the purchase of travel insurance with specific coverage that we will detail in this article.

If you are going to travel for a maximum of 90 days during a period of 6 months to one or more countries in Europe, you may need to obtain a Schengen visa, although this will also depend on your nationality and the regulations of the destinations. Consider these questions to find out if you need a Schengen visa.

Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus, Croatia, Ireland and the United Kingdom do not belong to the Schengen area, so they have their own rules for issuing visas.  If you have a Schengen visa and wish to travel to one of these 6 countries, you will need to obtain a separate visa and insurance for each of them.
